House Key Fob

How long should it take to decide if a property is the one for you?

| |Hunters Estate Agents

Investing your hard-earned money in a property for you and your family to call home is one of the biggest and most important decisions you’ll make. Choosing the right property is not an easy task, but Hunters are here to help! Some estate agents say it takes the average buyer just 10 minutes to decide on buying a property. Others say it takes 27 minutes, 36 minutes or more. But at Hunters, we know that everyone is different.

Slow burners

You might be the sort of house hunter that is a slow-burner, who carries out extensive research on a property before you even view it. Whether that’s through the internet or through in-depth chats with the experts at Hunters, head-strong buyers like you know what you want in a property and you get clued-up on the details before viewing a home. This advanced research and planning takes time and effort, but it means that you can confidently view a property knowing the ins and outs, making a well-informed decision.

Love at first sight

As you take that step into a property, you have that feeling and something in your gut starts to sparkle and you know this property is going to be exciting.  The more you see, the more your heart wants, there is sadly no escape from ‘love at first sight’ unless you have a ‘head’ person by your side to calm you down.  One thing you must do when immediately falling in love with a home, is to ensure you honestly consider all the cons too, this way you know you will be making the right decision for you.

The newbies

You may not necessarily be a first time buyer as you may have bought a number of years ago when the market was different and entering into this new world is very scary.  You are a mixed bag of emotions, excited yes, but also overwhelmed at the sales process.  You’re cautious about making decisions, you know when something doesn’t feel right, but you also are nervous about saying yes!  You will want to view a larger number of properties than most, just to be sure that you are making the right decision and that’s OK.  This is a big decision and you should not rush it!

The experts

You’re not new to this game of home buying, you’ve experienced the good, the bad and the ugly, so you know what to expect but also what you want.  You are the action takers, when it’s right you don’t waste time in throwing in an offer as you don’t want to miss out.  You like to challenge the estate agent and we love it, because at the end of the day we want to help you move.

No matter what type of buyer you are, there’s no right or wrong amount of time to take when it comes to making the big decision of purchasing a property. Just be sure to think about the pros and cons and ask the experts at Hunters if you need advice.
